Fiber internet in the Philippines just got better with Streamtech, the country’s newest wave in fiber internet. In fact, it is a new telco player holding a 25-year Congressional franchise under RA No. 11089, series of 2018. Specifically, it was granted rights of telco operations and maintenance, the following to name a few. First, nationwide and international gateway facilities. Second, wired and wireless telecommunications systems. Third, international and national broadband systems. Fourth, mobile and cellular multichannel multipoint distribution systems.
Following the same Act, Streamtech applied for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC). Later on, it was granted a Provisional Authority for the operation of wired and fixed broadband network across the country.
Similarly, it is also a member of the Philippine Cable and Telecommunications Association, Inc.
With pride as the new internet service provider in the Philippines, Streamtech has established strong peering with Tier 1 global internet upstream providers. Mostly, these are especially the ones in the Asia-Pacific and United States routes. Consequently, having international point of presence has allowed Streamtech to easily expand capacity to multiple Gigabit connectivity. More so, localized content and peering add to its network strength. It then makes easier to deliver good connections using a fully meshed metro ethernet supporting fiber reach.
Moreover, it has secured a direct partnership with one of the leading international telco equipment manufacturers. Basically, the latter is its technology partner for network equipment, as well as its fiber to the home access technology.
Further, Streamtech is in the process of taking over the internet systems operations of Planet Cable, Inc. Planet Cable is a multi-system operator offering cable TV services, cable-Internet, and digital video broadcast.
From Planet‘s humble beginnings in 2000, Streamtech’s intended takeover of it positions the latter to the advantage. Soon, Planet Cable will also be one of the biggest and technically advanced cable systems in the country. With its own fiber optic backbone link, Planet, powered by Streamtech, is now capable to provide bandwidth and dedicated internet access, leased line, CCTV and WIFI services to residential, commercial and industrial users in its franchise areas.
Hence, its operations across the country, in Regions I, III, NCR, CALABARZON, Iloilo Province, Guimaras, and Davao, will soon be under Streamtech.
Streamtech initially offers various services. These include fixed broadband for residential and SMEs, Direct Internet Access, and Metro E connectivity for enterprises.
